Pneumatology–The Study of the Holy Ghost

The Holy Spirit.jpg

Pneumatology comes from the Greek word πνεῦμα (pneuma) which means breath, spirit, and soul. Pneumatology is the study of the Holy Ghost, His works, and His person. Since it is through the Holy Ghost that Christ’s Atonement is made available to mankind, the works of the Holy Ghost include topics like spiritual gifts, sacraments, sanctification, inspiration, and conversion.

Traditionally, theology can be divided into ten different focusses: Theology Proper, Christology, Pneumatology, Theological Anthropology, Hamartiology, Ecclesiology, Eschatology, Soteriology, Biblical Theology, and Angelology. As this blog’s purpose is to explore Latter-day Saint theology, posts, where possible, will be sorted into these sub-disciplines.
